Working with Second Wave Youth Arts
Second Wave was set up in 1982, and is based in Deptford, SE London. The organisation is a venue and a meeting place for young people. They run regular youth-centred Platform Events and workshops for young performers and writers aged between 12-24.
Lewisham shopping was able to accommodate a successful promotion event on 8th October 201 for young volunteers. They ha a great time meeting and engaging with other young people and parents representing Second Wave to the wide range of shoppers and shopowners in the Centre.
Hena Chowdhury, Events Co-ordinator for Second Wave said "We started building dialogue with retailers in the shopping centre and look forward to continuing that process in the future."
The First Safe Haven Shopping Centre
Lewisham shopping is proud to announce that it was the very first shopping centre Safe Haven in the country. Working with Citizens UK and supporting the Jimmy Mizen Foundation, the shopping centre has formed a working partnership with the Police, Local Authority, Lewisham Borough Business Against Crime (LBBAC) and local schools to ensure the safety of vulnerable people as they pass through the shopping centre.
