Poundland Now Open

The large newly created store in North Mall of Lewisham shopping became the brand new Poundland on 4 June, providing more space than the previous temporary store which proved to be a big hit with Lewisham shoppers. The 19 temporary store employees moved to the new branch, as well as 11 new staff members, of which 5 are ex-Woolworth’s employees.

The Poundland store will continue to offer local shoppers amazing value on many top brands, including Maxwell House coffee, Whitworths sugar, Colgate, Cadbury and Walkers, as well as everyday essential products.

To celebrate the opening of the new Lewisham Poundland Jennie McAlpine who play 'Fizz' in Coronation Street, opened the store at 10.00am on Saturday 6 June.

Poundland, which has just appointed Macmillan Cancer Support as its charity of the year, will have members of staff and entertainers collecting donations for Macmillan to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Everything at Poundland is priced at just £1, and there are always lots of offers including 3 for £1 and BOGOFs, so you can walk away with even more for just a quid.

Poundland’s Trading Director, David Coxon, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be opening a permanent store and helping ex-Woolworths staff back into employment during these tough times. We have a very strong presence in London and Lewisham shoppers have already proved they are extremely savvy and will no doubt be delighted by the bigger store and its amazing value.”
